The project was initiated in early 2020 at the request of Sardar Jagjit Singh Ji of Komal Library (Srinagar, Kashmir), affectionately known to the team as Veerji.
Dr Komal JB Singh took the initiative to get the initial team together.
The history, culture, traditions, and contributions of the Sikhs of Jammu and Kashmir is vast. We humbly acknowledge that there's little new knowledge that we create on this website - all of this material is drawn from our experiences, memories, written material, but most importantly, from what we learn from our elders, community members, and also scholars who have either formally researched these subjects or published their writings independetly. But at the same time, we expect our teams and wider sangat to appreciate the time, knowledge, and hard work that goes into collecting, editing, and writing content, and developing and maintaining this platform.
As a reminder, content under Editorials is published under authors' names whereas other 'core content' spread around the website is attributed to the 'JKSikhs team'. In any case, any source that we reference will be acknowledged everywhere. For more on how to get involved, please read this.
On this page, we will endeavour to list the names of initial contributors who helped collect material for core content of the website. Depending on their personal circumnstances, volunteers some of our volunteers may no longer be active. However, we will do our best to list all contributors' names as long as they wish to be named. If we miss any contributors, please do email us on info@jksikhs.com

Clearly, someone with the required skills has to manage the website's setup (domain, hosting etc.), but we don't see any of us as "owner" of this platform. Administration of this platform is a "responsibility" and not a privilege - so don't be offended if we are very careful in granting edit access to the website. But, rest assured that you will have the right level of access for what you would like to do for the website.
We really consider this to be "community owned" and we manage this website as volunteer-sewadars on the sangat's behalf.
